Year End Smile Upgrades: Dental Floss

Posted .

How has your dental floss care been this year? Are you confident about using your current techniques and methods for flossing in the new year to ensure your smile remains safe from any dental dangers that can arise?

If you require additional oral health care treatments, it may be due to a failure of your traditional daily cleaning routines. Typically, plaque buildup arises due to issues resulting from the improper use of dental floss. In order to ensure your smile has the greatest chance of success, use dental floss adequately, efficiently, and effectively every day.

To ensure your dental floss is functioning as necessary, always use strands that are roughly 18 inches in length. Never use the same strand for more than one session, and never use the same section of strand between more than one tooth. Wrap your fingers around both ends of a strand and move up and down the strand as necessary. Also, be sure to look for a shred-resistant floss, or seek out alternative interdental cleaners such as water flossers.
